If I Could Tame Whatever I Wanted

In a recent Scattered Shots post , I talked about “unique” pets found around Azeroth, Outland and Northrend, and following that discussion I started to wonder what pet I would choose if I could tame anything I wanted . I gave it some thought and decided that I would probably still use a cat. I’m a big fan of cats. They go “rawr” and the claws are very clearly “4 fite”. And, they’re extremely cuddly after they’ve chewed off your enemy’s face. Nevermind the gore on their chins, that’s no big deal. The blood washes off, eventually. But what cat would I choose if I could pick any one I want? I’d totally want some Viking Kittens . They’re small, cute, and armed to the teeth. And we can’t overlook their demoralizing war cry , which I think would be extremely helpful in PvP situations where you’re too busy sipping Budweizer and you’re just kinda hoping your enemy will run screaming in the other direction rather than force you to deal with them yourself. Plus, think about it. Vikings were fierce mofos. And kitties can be notoriously vicious when they want to be, too. What’s more feral and fear-inspiring than viking kittens ? And they have weapons! And horned helms! And a freakin’ longboat ! What’s not to love?! I rest my case. Snipercat would be another ferocious feline I’d like to have in the stables. The drawback to Snipercat is, of course, he’s also ranged — which means he surely won’t be tanking any mobs for me. Totally worth it, though. I’d gladly take a couple hits to the face to witness the greatness of Snipercat. He better be hit capped, though. I don’t want him to miss and hit me instead. That would suck. I hate corpse runs. (And you just know with Snipercat it’s one shot, one kill. No matter what.) He’s also got a few pathing issues. No matter where you go, he’s always running off to find some high ground, whether you want him to or not. How else can he get a clear shot? Now, this might be stretching my luck a bit, but the next crazy kitty I’d want on call is not just one cat, but a whole pride. The Fierce Kittens are an alliance guild on the Venture Company server, and I totally want them in my corner if for no other reason than they’re fierce, and have an awesome mascot. Their site leaves something to be desired (like… information), so I have no idea if this guild is even still active or not, but holy cow is their mascot just insanely cool. If he were mine, I’d name him Cuddles or something equally ironic and “clever”, you know? Or maybe I’d call him Ripper. Yeah, Ripper has a nice ring to it. The blood on his paws is an especially nice touch, and I have to admit, rather endearing. I also want an African Serval. Just like… in general. Real life, WoW? Either one would work for me. Those are some snazzy friggin cats, let me tell you. Think we could convince Blizz to maybe throw a few of these bad boys in game? Sure, it kinda looks like Shango and the Dreadsabers from Sholazar Basin, but it’s not quite the same. Those cats are quite clearly modeled after leopards. Just with ridiculous fangs. Servals are more like cheetas with big crazy ears and tiny faces. If you know nothing about servals, I recommend reading up on them . They’re actually quite interesting little creatures. You can actually get these as pets in real life, but if I recall correctly you need a special license to do so (since they’re “exotic” –read: wild– animals) which seems like an awful lot of work to me.
