While everyone is excited about dual specs and introduction of a new raid instance, (and is preparing their inventions and their strategies accordingly in that direction), there is another way to make a killing (although on a smaller scale) on patch day that is accessible to even those under lvl 60. While largely unnoticed, in addition to new lowbie recipes coming out in 3.1, existing trainer learnt items will also be undergoing a revamp, taking place for all 3 armor specific crafting professions, namely Tailoring, Leatherworking and Blacksmithing. While there are a wide swathe of changes happening on the PTR, I would like to bring your attention to a particular tailoring item which I think presents an interesting opportunity post patch day: [Spidersilk Boots] Current stats +29 Armor +4 Stamina +4 Intellect +7 Spirit Level requirement: 20 3.1 stats +29 Armor +4 Stamina +4 Intellect +8 Spellpower Level requirement: 19 As you can see, this pair of cloth boots from tailoring is undergoing a huge buff, making it very competitive with other boots around its level as it gets updated with spellpower over old stats like spirit that have been increasingly become redundant. Most significantly, its level requirement has been shifted from 20 to 19. Some of you might wonder how a single level would make any difference in the value of this pair of boots. Well, by being changed into a level 19 rare quality cloth boots, it has just became the single best pair of caster boots in the level 10-19 twink bracket! A bracket where twink items can sell anywhere from 30 gold to a few hundred! While everyone’s mileage on their server might differ, I am sure that this pair of boots will sell from 30 to 55 gold on most servers at the very least. If you are unsure of your server, simply do a lvl 17-19 rare search on your auction house, and look at the prices of your items there. Generally, more established and older servers have a more active twink market. On my server Medivh, I have been able to purchase the mats to make each boot at about 1-5 gold, and have made about 20 of them. By these estimates, if I am able to sell all 20 boots on the days following patch day, I would be able to make 600-1000 gold for a few minutes of work. And all this can be done on a character who is around level 20. This makes it one of the best pre-patch preparations for people who have low level characters or low skilled professions!
